Well, I come from the Catholic tradition, and the Catholic Church is one of the denominations of Christianity. There are some things that frustrate me about my tradition and one of those I feel is the discrimination against women. Before I go on to explain a little bit more about what I mean by that, I do want to acknowledge that growing up in the Catholic church I did feel very supported to be a leader. But for some women, that's not enough. Some women feel this call to become a priest, to serve the Church in that way and unfortunately if they feel this call, there's not really much they can do about it. In fact the Church simply does not allow women to be priests. And I feel like there is not really a good explanation that the Church gives as to why this is the case. I mean, sometimes they say it is because of tradition but actually that is not true either. Because in the past there is a history where in the early Church, women did become priests, and there are several other times throughout history as well. At this time in the Catholic Church, there is a great crisis, there are not enough priests particularly in the Western World – I think that if women were allowed to become priests, that influx of the female energy and life force into the priesthood would be a wonderful thing for the Church right now.The other thing is that the priest, the man, is the person who gives the teaching and the preaching in the mass. And I feel that this is very unbalanced and unnatural. And I know that there are a lot of women, men and priests as well in the Catholic Church who would like to see this changed. And it is something that I hope will happen really soon.
